Anna M.
Thorp
December 9, 1931 – October 12, 2020
Anna M. Thorp, 88, passed away at her residence on October 12, 2020. Her Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2020 at Benton Funeral Home. Memorials in Anna's honor may be made to the Missouri River Medical Center or to the charity of one's choice.
Anna was born December 9, 1931 to Harry and Lena (Albrecht) Ramberg in Chinook, MT. She was the oldest of 15 children; helping her mother with the younger children and cooking. She attended school in Chinook and graduated from Chinook High School.
While working on the Davey Ranch as a cook, she met a cowboy named Dell who became the love of her life. They were married January 12, 1957. Together they had seven children. For a time they lived in Beach, ND. Then moved to Chinook, and later Kalispell. While living in Kalispell, Dell became sick and passed away due to cancer. Anna moved to Fort Benton twenty-five years ago to be near her daughter, Layne. She spent her summers with her son, Patrick, in Ryegate.
Not only did Anna love to cook, she was a wonderful cook. If you were lucky enough to be at her house at mealtime she made you feel very welcome to join the family for a meal and you never left hungry. Her specialty was the rolls she made. No one could make them like Anna. She has an impressive cookbook collection, and she always remembered everyone's birthday.
Anna had many loves, her children and grandchildren were at the top of her list. She also loved her garden and plants and being outdoors. She collected dolls, watched game shows on TV, crocheted beautiful afghans, loved playing cards with friends and family or if by herself, her game of choice was solitaire.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband Dell in 1982; son, Clifford; her parents, Harry and Lena; brothers, Warner, Frank, David & Chris; and sisters, Caroline & Erna.
She is survived by sons Pat Thorp, Doug Thorp, & Roger Thorp; daughters, Debra (Layton) Brown, Layne (Mark) Murray, & Barbara (Ronnie) Taylor; grandchildren, Randy (Samantha) Brown, Preston Brown, Emily (Lane) Smith, Cole (Maggie) Thorp, Lisa (Arron) Sanchez, Craig (Bailey) Thorp, Bryan (Natalie) Taylor, Zachary Murray, Taylor Murray, Casey (C.J.)
