Barbara was born July 28, 1951 in Helena, Montana to Eugene and Bonnie (Frost) Jagers the youngest of three children. She attended high school with Wayne Storey; they were married and her first daughter, Lisa was born. Barbara then attended night school to get her GED and ran her own daycare for a time. She and Wayne went their separate ways and she then attended beauty school. She met Darrold Queen and the couple went on many road trips and dates together and fell in love. They were married in Denver, Colorado on September 24, 1975. The couple lived in Denver for a while and then moved back to Helena where Darrold worked for the city of Helena and Barbara worked at the State Nursery Farm. During this time her second daughter, Genea was born.
Barbara was an eclectic person who could and did do anything. She was strong willed, creative, generous and compassionate and is often described as a "short tough ball of fire!" She worked as an apprentice Upholsterer for ten years, before she opened her own upholstery shop. She was meticulous in her work that people just loved their pieces when she was finished with them. She was a perfectionist, who believed in doing things correctly and to the best of your ability. Barbara had a knack for taking old, tattered, neglected things and restoring them. Whether it was an antique doll, furniture or wood she could make it beautiful again. Barbara also worked in construction with her sister-in-law and cousins building grain bins one summer because she was willing and capable. She and the girls were bolt pushers who were affectionately known as the "Huff and Puff Bin Grannies!"
When she retired, she moved into making reborn dolls that to many people appeared real. She would make them herself painting the intricate creases and details into every doll as well as hand rooting each little bit of hair. She would custom sew their wardrobe so they were properly dressed in the cutest and trendiest outfits. The characteristic shown the most in Barbara was her compassion for others. She always was present to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Whether it was a meal and a warm blanket she could offer or just to listen, her door was always open and she would always take the time. She had many "adopted" children over the years that she lent a helping hand to and therefore was considered by many as "mom".
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrold Queen and later her first husband Wayne Storey.
Barbara is survived by her two daughters: Lisa (and husband Marc) Rios and Eugenea (and husband Chris) Harris of Square Butte, Montana. Five grandchildren: Stephen (Christina) Rios; Christopher (Rebecca) Rios; Tara ( Kennith) Southworth; Amber Albaugh and Orrin Harris, and 3 Great Grandchildren; Gattlin Michael, Ronin James and Emberly Ann. One brother David Jagers of Erie, Colorado and one Sister Ann Day of Tacoma, Washington. Her Aunt Nata (Randy) of Helena, Montana and many many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
