Betty was born on August 22, 1952, in Havre, Hill County, Montana to Orville Oliver Shore and Mary "Marion" Elizabeth Buchanan.  She was raised by her father Orville and her stepmother Magdalena "Lena" Catherine (Richter) Shore of Chinook, and later connecting to her birth mother and stepfather Marion & James Smith of Fort Benton.

In 1974 she started her family with the birth of her oldest daughter Dearling Gail (Shore) Bacak with Donald Edmond Goss.  In 1975, she married and subsequently divorced, Joseph Amos Reed, bringing two additional children, Joseph Amos Reed Jr. and Lena-Marie (Reed) Sullivan into what would remain to be her close family.

Betty worked over the years in multiple different professions, in many different communities. From canning tamales, to working with people in home healthcare, Betty wasn't afraid of working hard, a skill she instilled in her children and continued right up to her death.  Her hard work and drive were what resulted in her injury while working in a glass factory and led to her greatest passion, volunteering and serving Christ.

Betty could not come across a person without giving her testimonial.  Whether it was at coffee with friends, or clients she worked with in Health Care, she was not afraid to tell her story when led by God.  She found her greatest passion making things to give away for free or to those in need.  Whether it was scarves, blankets or piñatas for the neighborhood kids, Betty felt the best way to serve God was by being a light.

She was preceded in death by her son Joseph Amos Reed, Jr.; siblings, Donald Shore, John Shore and Tommy Weigand; and special friends, Rozella Annis, Sherri Prosenick and Donalee.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Dearling (Richard) Bacak of Kennesaw, GA and Lena-Marie (Sean) Sullivan of Yorktown, VA;  grandchildren, John, Caleb, Kelsey, Devon & Trevor Bacak of Texas and Georgia, Caitlyn Paul (VA), Daphne (TX), Emily & Scarlett (CO), Dallas & Evelyn Sullivan of VA,  and Trysten & Che Alvarez- Reed (OR); siblings, Mary Galer of Austin, TX, Nora (Jim) Weigand of Dodson, MT,  Orvilla (Mary Bobot) Shore of NY and Jim Shore of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by multiple cousins, close friends, nieces and nephews, by blood and by circumstance.  Betty left behind a huge family born and acquired.

In her final days she repeated that all she wanted people to do was be better and break the cycle.   Make a positive change in this dark world.
