Charles E. Stovall, 95, born June 12, 1921, went to his maker on October 30, 2016. Charles was born in Dayton, Washington to Clyde and Ida Stovall before the family moved to Carter, Montana. He attended country schools and graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1940 and received a football scholarship to attend the University of Montana.
He was drafted into World War II and was honorably discharged in 1945. He returned to Fort Benton where he met and married the love of his life, Beryl Morrow. They were married August 18, 1946 and celebrated their 70 th wedding anniversary this last summer.
Charles worked as a mechanic at various businesses until he retired in 1983. He also served as Chouteau County Judge for 32 years, retiring in 1993. He and his wife traveled to Arizona every winter for 17 years, making many great friends along the way.
Charles is survived by his wife, Beryl; sons, Douglas (Raedene) Stovall and Brian (Debbie) Stovall; daughter, Leslye Reimer; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother David (Dorothy) Stovall; sister, Linda Madsen; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents and 7 brothers and sisters.
A Memorial Service will be held as a Summer Celebration in June 2017 in fort Benton, Montana.
