David Michael Babcock, 63, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at his daughter’s residence in Fort Benton, Montana. David was born on February 7, 1963, in Saginaw, Michigan. He was raised by his parents, George and Michele (Landers) Babcock, and attended school in Perry, Michigan. Following his high school graduation, David proudly answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1981 and serving in Korea. After receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to Michigan where he dedicated his life to a career in the building trades, working for various construction companies before successfully establishing himself as an independent contractor. He married Tina Fielding and raised three children, David II, Toshia, and Thomas. Though they later divorced, they remained close friends. A fiercely hardworking man, David lived by the motto, “you do you and I will do me.” He was never one to sit idle, believing a day without accomplishment was a day wasted. He found immense joy in the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, magnet fishing, target shooting, and tending to his garden. Following a debilitating stroke in 2020, David faced his greatest challenge, being forced to slow down. True to his resilient spirit, he adapted by finding new joy in scenic car rides, always eager to explore new places and meet new people. For the past three years, he resided in Fort Benton, with his daughter’s family. David was preceded in death by his biological father, Delbert Sharko, and his grandparents. He is survived by his three children: David II (Anna); Thomas (Jewelie); and Toshia (Kevin) Hull. He also leaves behind his three sisters, Renee (Bruce) Dvorak, Cheryl Babcock, and Niki Sharko; his eight grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and lifelong friends. No services are planned at this time.
