A gathering in celebration of Don's life will be held at the Pimperton home in Carter, Mt. at 2pm Saturday October 3 rd .
Don was born February 16 th , 1933 in Choteau Mt. to Clementine (Molly) and Sidney Pimperton. He joined a sister Eleanor and later, another sister Phylis completed their family. The Pimperton family relocated to the Fort Benton area in 1935 where they farmed and ranched.
At a young age, Don was part of the Boy scouts and had the honor of being a pallbearer at Sheps funeral. After graduating from Fort Benton High School Don attended Oklahoma State University where he graduated in economics. He then attended The University of Montana for graduate work and later served with distinction as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Infantry.
Don returned to Fort Benton to continue work on the family ranch and became involved in politics. In 1960 he married Delores Gudatis. They welcomed one daughter. They divorced and he later married Andrea Roudebush. They added two more children to the family and continued life on the Pimperton Ranch divorcing in 1981. Don was involved in various organizations. He served 16 years on the Chouteau County Fair Board, several years with the JC's as a state officer and President of his local chapter. He belonged to the Mt. Angus Association as well as the Montana Horse Racing Commission and worked as a State Steward at the race meets. He was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Board of Engineers and serving several terms.
In 1985 Don moved to Wolf Creek, Mt. with his friend and companion Dixie Heisey. In 1988 they moved and settled in Billings, Mt. He began work at Billings Livestock and continued farming with his son and later grandchildren at the farm in Carter, Mt. Don retired from Billings livestock in 2016 at the age of 83 but never retired from farming. He did not miss one harvest with his family and was involved until the day he died.
Intelligent, quick-witted and well read, Don was known to have a story or tale ready for anyone who knew him. With his cousin and partner in crime Bob Pimperton, they would make quite the story telling duo with plenty of laughter to go around. As remembered by his friend Carter, "Don was a perpetual optimist with an infectious personality that would light up any room he entered. He was the life of the party". Don had 6 grandchildren who he followed keeping close tabs on their activities throughout the years.
Don will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him! He is survived by his long-time friend and companion of 40 years Dixie Heisey of Billings; sister, Phylis Hodges; his former wife, Andrea Pimperton of Carter; daughters, Danette (Brad) Pimperton Bramlette and Sydnee Pimperton Brown both of California; his son; Mike (Kim) Pimperton of Carter; grandchildren, Jackson (Alex) Bramlette, Kina Bramlette, Bailee (Emily) Brown, Brooke (Wyatt) Smith, Jace and Hannah Pimperton; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
