Obituary

Jack Allen Gray, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Fort Benton on July 20, 2020. Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the Sunrise Bluffs with Pastor Joe Jordan officiating. Jack was born November 21, 1931 in Springfield, Illinois to Charles and Margaret (Hostick) Gray. He was raised and educated in Springfield graduating from Lanphier High School.

Jack was raised by his grandmother and spent his younger years in Springfield, Illinois hanging out with his friends until at sixteen he joined the Air Force. Jack had a great work ethic and loved jobs where he could stay busy and be around lots of people.

He enlisted into the United States Air Force and was discharged April 5, 1950 at Westover Air Force Base, Massachusetts. After the military Jack returned home to Illinois to get married and start a family. Later Jack moved to California where he then ran a chalet in Mammoth Lake California for quite some years.  He always liked to travel and spent many years of his life in Illinois, California, Arizona, and Montana. He moved to Fort Benton in September of 2013.

Jack was a proud father and had four beautiful children who he loved more than life.

Jack was an amazing singer and he had an infectious smile and laugh. He was a sentimental man who wore his heart on his sleeve. He was kind and friendly to every person he met. He loved driving for Laidlaw as a school bus driver and loved working with children. He loved being a papa. His grandchildren where his everything and would bring him back to life. They enjoyed spending times together eating ice cream and sharing stories and having walks on the river. They often would have lunches together on Saturdays.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Daniel Allen Gray.

Jack is survived by his three children: son Keith Gray of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Michelle Gray-Baum and Patricia " Tricia"  Lee of Great Falls, Montana; grandchildren, Jayden Jones, AvaMarie Jones, Deyvyon Brooks, Ahnieya Gray, Priscilla Gray, Christina Maddox-Griffin, Rebecca Gray-Baum and Julia Gray-Baum; and all of his church family at Community Bible Church in Fort Benton.
