John Eugene Ehnes, 88, died October 28, 2018 at Missouri River Medical Center in Fort Benton, Montana of natural causes. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the First Christian Church with Pastor Kit Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton. John was born December 22, 1929 in Fort Benton, Montana to Mary Isabelle (Slack) and Nickademus Ehnes at St. Clare Hospital (now Missouri River Medical Center). He was raised and educated in Highwood, graduating from High School in 1948. John married Harriet Lehman and they had four daughters. The couple later divorced. They farmed for his father for several years, then he got a job at the Smelter in Great Falls as an Overhead Crane Operator and retired from there after 25 years. He then moved to the Sun Rise Bluffs in Fort Benton and lived there longer than anyone had. When his health started to fail, he was moved to the nursing home where he lived until his passing. He will be missed by all.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Steven and Donald; infant sister, Blanche; daughter Linda Ehnes; one grandchild; and one great grandchild.

He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Ehnes Whitman of Kalispell, Montana, Loretta Ehnes of Kellogg, Idaho, and Jeannie Williams of Simms, Montana; his sister Barbara Hankins; two brothers, Victor and Ray Ehnes; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
