Larry Jack
Cline
May 6, 1953 – September 9, 2024
Larry Jack Cline, 71, passed away Sept 9th, 2024 in Fort Benton, MT due to natural causes. Graveside services were held at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Benton, MT on Thursday, Sept 12th at 11 AM with a reception following at the B Social Bowling Alley. The Family has requested donations in Larry's honor be made to the Dedman Foundation, P.O. Box 1282, Fort Benton, MT 59442. Benton Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements and services.
Larry was born in Fort Benton, MT to Lloyd and Ella Mae(Nepil) on May 6, 1953. He grew up on the family farm just outside of Fort Benton. Larry attended Fort Benton Schools and graduated in 1971. He spent a year at Northern in Havre studying auto mechanics. His passion for farming brought him back to the farm where he spent the term of his life working in the fields, tinkering on vehicles and taking care of his beloved animals.
On October 27, 1979, he married Sue Clark at the Methodist Church in Fort Benton. Sue was the love of his life and the only girl strong enough to tame him. They traveled together to many destinations over the years, but seemed to always be drawn back to the warmer ones. Hawaii and Cabo were their favorite. They bowled, golfed, and played darts together in many leagues through the years. They loved to take the boat to Tiber and spent many weekends there with friends. Larry and Sue followed their nieces and nephews activities, traveling to many out of town games to see them compete. They were always so proud of them.
Larry spent the majority of his time farming, but spent numerous hours following some other passions too. He and his buddies worked many late nights on their 4-wheel drive puller, "The Weekend Warrior" to be ready to run a tractor pull in Canada or other destinations across the state. Larry then built his own 2-wheel drive puller, "The Rising Star", using a Corvette funny car dragster body. He loved working on vehicles-repairing most of the farm vehicles on his own or with the help of his friends. Later on, Larry became a passionate Montana Griz fan. He had season tickets to the football games and always kept up on the players on the team. He even traveled to Chattanooga, TN to see the Griz win a national championship in 2001.
Larry also was a great caretaker of animals. He particularly loved his German Shepherds. His dogs always had a front seat ride in his pick up with him. Other passengers were either relegated to the back seat or scrunched up against the door. He always had around three cats living in the house with Sue and him. They were spoiled by Larry and ruled the house. Larry also fed all the farm cats each day at various feeding stations throughout the farm. Those cats couldn't wait for Larry to bring them their food each day and would swarm him when he would pull up on his Gator to feed them.
Larry is preceded in death by his wife Sue; parents, Lloyd and Ella Mae; and brother, Gary.
Larry is survived by his brother Allen of Fort Benton, MT; sisters, Karen of Harrisburg, PA, Shelley of Great Falls, MT, and Judy (Robert) of Salt Lake City, UT; plus many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews, and more.
