LeRoy was born August 5, 1927 in Glasgow, Montana, the second son of Ludwig and Belle Honrud. LeRoy attended country schools near Opheim through middle school, eventually moving with his family to Washington state in 1942. While there, he attended school until he was called up for military service before his senior year of high school. After his service overseas in Japan, he returned to Washington where he met and married Vivian Russell in 1950. They would remain married until her death in 2013. He eventually returned to Montana finding work in the Colony Bay area of Loma, working for Floyd Larson. With the help from Mr. Larson, they were able to get a farm of their own and thus began his 50 plus years as a farmer.

LeRoy and his wife were blessed with six children: LeAnn, Richard, Donald, Leslie, Nanci, and Russell. Dad and mom loved their kids and met their needs the best they could. We know they had to sacrifice a lot personally to provide for us as they did.

Dad was pretty good at whatever he set his mind to do. When it came to fixing machinery, woodworking, or diagnosing a problem of most any kind, he seemed to have the ability to see the problem, fix it, and fix it right. We think he enjoyed the challenge.

Over the years Dad enjoyed many pastimes. As a young man, he enjoyed hunting and shooting in rifle club. Later it was trap shooting, and when in his fifties, taking up golf. Eventually his health told him that he would have to give up golf, but he still enjoyed his morning ritual of "coffee with the guys" at Benton Pharmacy!

Dad loved his neighbors and community and served where he could, first on the local school board in Loma, then on the school board in Fort Benton for several years. Dad also had a great faith in God and in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He served first as a deacon at First Christian Church in Fort Benton, then serving as an Elder. He loved the Book of Hebrews. He was a good servant to the church.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his wife Vivian, his daughter LeAnn, his son Leslie, all three of his brothers Junior, Gordon, and Stanley, and 2 great-grandchildren Christian and Titus.

He is survived by his children Richard (Kristine) Honrud, Donald Honrud, Nanci (Craig) Skinner, and Russell (Leann) Honrud; foster sister Holly Eckford; 3 sisters-in-law Eileen Honrud, Glenice Honrud, and Betty Honrud; 10 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
