Obituary

LouDean Beverly Dana Jolley was born July 6, 1935, to Leland F. Dana and LaRue Kidd Dana.  She was the first born to that family. Five other siblings would follow. She was joined by Freda (Young), Marva (Cook), Layne, Guy, and Calvin.  Her father owned a trucking business and they moved often.  Sixteen places were called home before she was sixteen. She found great love in her family and extended family; cousins as well as aunts and uncles were considered her best friends.

LouDean enjoyed close friendships in high school where she made lifetime connections and later attended every high school reunion possible. During her senior year, she worked at Mountain States Telephone Company at the switchboard.  She enjoyed that experience and took great pride in her efforts.

Not long after her family felt a religious fervor, LouDean was called to the Northwestern States Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her mission included Montana, Wyoming, and the Dakotas.  In this capacity, she overcame shyness and gained the ability to speak to anyone. A few weeks after her release, the Lee Dana family was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple.

After her mission she began studies at Ricks College in Rexburg ID. Within months, she eyed a returned missionary who was tall, dark and handsome! He had recently returned from serving a mission in Australia. He also served in the Korean War, stationed in Japan. That person was Wayne Jolley. A roommate pretended to be her and asked him to the Sadie Hawkins dance. The rest was history. She received her diamond on her twenty-fourth birthday. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. That began almost fifty years of companionship.  She and Wayne raised two boys and two girls, each one serving a mission for the Church.

Wayne and LouDean served in many different church callings, including Relief Society president while Wayne was in the branch presidency in Superior, Montana.  The church branches in Superior, and in Conrad, Montana were wonderful places to serve.  The couple filled a stake mission while living in Conrad.  LouDean became active in family history; an avid genealogist.  In Fort Benton, she was a beloved primary teacher, family history consultant and taught seminary.  She was a faithful visiting teacher throughout her life.

The Jolley family settled in Fort Benton, Montana in 1976 where Brian, Blaine, Brenda (Ereaux), and Beverly (Endicott) primarily grew up. LouDean had an array of hobbies and interests.  She loved to sew, quilt, hand embroider, make ceramics (had 2 kilns!), garden, can fruits and vegetables, bake homemade bread and fry chicken!  She loved to go camping and fishing and dip her feet in the cold creek water.

LouDean was frequently found reading her scriptures. She had a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and demonstrated that love through her many kind acts of service.

LouDean was known for her "feisty" personality and her "isms" i.e.:  Where in the Sam Heck? "We'll I'll be" and "fuller than a wood tick" to name a few. She would tie a knot in almost anything and problem solved in ways unique to anyone else.

She worked part-to full-time doing housekeeping or janitorial jobs to help supplement the family income.  She was known to be an extremely hard worker and a lover of duct tape! Grandkids know of her special packages that were not easily opened.

After Wayne died from a brain tumor, LouDean served a church service mission in Family Search in Salt Lake City, UT and lived with her sister, Freda and brother-in-law Ron Young.  Aging came slowly to LouDean; but as she approached her mid-eighties, she needed more help.  She rotated living with children and later moved to Lindon in the spring of 2021.  For the last three years, LouDean was at the Spring Gardens Assisted Living Center in Lindon, UT.

LouDean was preceded by her parents, two brothers (Layne and Calvin), and one sister, Freda.  Siblings Guy Dana and Marva Cook survive her, as do her four children, Brian, Blaine, Brenda, and Beverly, along with fifteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Her family wants to express appreciation for all who have been part of LouDean's life. We appreciate your kindness, friendship, and love. We will miss her special influence and wholesome presence in our lives. Thank you all for your influence in her life.
