Obituary

Marjorie Emma Bowman

With a heavy heart we announce the sudden passing of Marjorie Emma Bowman who passed away on August 2, 2023.

Margie was born on August 28, 1952, to her loving mother Betty Bowman.  She would have turned 71 years old.  Margie was an only child and never married but considered some of her many cousins as her siblings and grandchildren.  She was loved so much by all of them.

Margie and her mother lived up at the Arrow Peak Ranch of Betty's parents until Margie got ready to start school.  Her mom was a 1st grade teacher in Highwood, so they moved into Highwood at that time.  After a couple years Betty got a teaching position in Conrad, MT, so they moved there until Margie graduated from high school.  Betty retired and they bought a house in Highwood and moved back.  Margie went to MSU in Bozeman for a year then came back to work for Montana Power in Great Falls, but still lived in Highwood with her mom.  After several years she got tired of driving back and forth and retired from that job.  She then became a janitor at the Highwood School.  She really loved that job and getting to know the teachers and the students.  Even if she didn't know the students well she gave them all graduation presents.  Margie became a huge Mountaineer fan and loved going to all the volleyball, basketball, and football games.  Her and her mom went to games until 2019 when it got harder for Betty to go.  Believe me Margie still watched TV and listened to the radio when the Mountaineers were playing  basketball at tournaments and would excitedly call and tell me how it all went.  She did go to State a couple of times when they made it.

Margie retired from being a janitor in 2023 due to arthritis, which she did not like doing but didn't have a choice.  However, she did go to the school I think almost every day and visit with the teachers.

Margie took very good care of her mother and took her to doctor's appointments and other functions, which kept her busy.  I know at times her arthritis made things hard for her, but she never complained.

She was one of the kindest people I have ever known.  Margie would have "given the shirt off her back" if anyone needed anything.  I have never known anyone like her that never forgot to send out Birthday, Anniversary, Get Well, and Sympathy  cards  to everyone she knew.  She had a calendar for all these people so she wouldn't forget.  Margie also stayed in contact with our relatives that didn't live around here and let me know how everyone was doing as well as with Highwood people.

Another thing about Margie is she loved animals especially horses.  She rode a lot when she lived up at the ranch.  When I came to visit my mom (her Aunt Marge), I would bring my dogs.  Our little Lhasa Apso dog just loved Margie.  She would no longer sit down, and Kenzie would jump up on her and lick her face.  She almost always had dogs and cats of her own which she took such good care of always.

Margie is survived by her mother Betty Bowman, Aunt Ruth Lehman and numerous cousins.  She was preceded in death by her Grandparents William and Ethel Lehman and first cousins Linda Ehnes, Brock Lehman and Don Walker, her Aunt and Uncles: Mike and Jim Moore, John and Marge Walker, Don Lehman, Bill and June Lehman and Pat Ehnes.

You are all invited to Margie's Celebration of life on August 14th, 2023, at the Highwood Hall at 11:00 am with a luncheon served afterward.  Donations can be made to the Highwood School that Margie loved so much.  Condolences can be sent to Judy Dyk at 6359 Delta Drive, Manhattan, MT 59741, or Karen Linford at 10304 Gray Heron Lane, Lakeland, TN 38002.
