MaryAnn Virginia (Simonson) Haugen, born on February 15, 1932, in Viking, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on October the 4th 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Gladys Ebba Skoglund Simonson and Albert T. Simonson, her arrival was joyfully welcomed by her aunt/midwife, Annie, who later became her cherished godmother. Named after her grandmother Mary and her aunt Annie, MaryAnn was proud of her family roots and often reminisced about her upbringing in the northern Minnesota woods with her five siblings.
While living with her eldest sister in Chester, MT, MaryAnn met the love of her life, Andrew Haugen. The couple married on September 15, 1952, in Joplin, MT, and together they raised four sons: Greg, Jeff, David, and Cory. MaryAnn and Andrew built a life filled with love, adventure, and family. MaryAnn is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband Andy, and son Kory.
MaryAnn's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. Her passion for cooking filled the homes of friends and family with warmth and delicious meals. She had a gift for socializing and made lifelong connections with the people around her, including those she touched while working in the kitchen at Fort Benton Hospital. MaryAnn's kindness, warmth, and generous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and a life well-lived.
The viewing will be held on Oct. 11th from 4-6pm at Benton Funeral Home. The funeral will be held on Oct. 12th starting at 1pm at the First Lutheran Church in Fort Benton.
