Monty was born July 5, 1955 in Fort Benton, Montana to Howard and Norma (Montgomery) Meeks. He was raised and educated in Fort Benton. His mother passed when he was 8 years old. His father later married Virginia Tacke who became Monty's second mother. Monty graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1973 being voted prettiest hair. He attended automotive school in Billings, Montana. Monty was a hard worker dividing his time between the farm and his automotive career. He was an accomplished mechanic and received many awards for his work. He had two beautiful daughters: Stacie and Kyle from his marriage to Lynn Singer. He loved to take his girls, who he adored, camping and fishing.
While working at Rocky Mountain Automotive/Peirce Super Stores in Great Falls, he met Jayn Kendall. They were married on November 27, 1998 in Fort Benton. He always enjoyed driving Jayn (Miss Daisy) on short or on longer trips showing her around different parts of Montana.
Monty got a kick out of Jayn's quick wit and she loved his one-liners and calling things as he saw it. They made each other laugh a lot through out their 23 years together.
Monty was an avid bowler and golfer, a member of Thursday night bowling league, and Signal Point Golf Club. He followed NASCAR and football. He was a forever Colts fan. When he was younger, he was a Weekend Warrior, tractor-pulling throughout Montana and Canada. He was also an honorary member of the "Goon Squad."
He was preceded in death by his birth mother Norma Meeks in 1963; his second-mother, Virginia Meeks in 2009; and his father Howard Meeks in 2015.
Monty is survived by his wife of 21 years, Jayn Meeks of Fort Benton; two daughters, Stacie (Scott) Schissler and Kyle (Justin) Hager all of Great Falls; three grandchildren, Dane and Dylan Hager and Connor Schissler; two sisters, Karen Sansoucie and Carla (Kim) Singer all of Fort Benton; stepsister Kathleen Kurfess (Tacke) and stepbrother Tom Tacke; three stepchildren, Virginia Hansen, Chris Hansen and Scott Hansen all of Washington State.
