Obituary

Patricia (Pat) Clark Wutschke passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Her life started on May 7,
1939 at the St. Clair hospital in Fort Benton, MT. She was the 3rd child and 1st daughter of James Edward Clark Sr. and Frances Cecil
(Nulf) Clark. She was raised in the Graceville community NE of Geraldine, MT. She attended 1st through 8th grade at the Graceville
Country School which was 4 miles from their home. Most winters, her Dad took them to school in a hay wagon pulled by Rex & Rambler
– her Dad's favorite team of horses. She then graduated from Geraldine high school in 1958.

At a very young age, Pat and her sister Jo had the skim milk calves and some of the milk cows broke to ride. They even broke an old sow
to ride. They'd get their butts warmed for some of the chances they took with the animals but were back at it the next day (always
peeking through the cracks in the hay pen watching for Mom headed to the barn with her leather squirt in hand.) She learned to milk a
cow before she was school age and was scared to death of chickens so she'd make Jo gather the eggs. Of course, then she'd have to
help Mom with the dishes. What a trade off! She loved riding horses and playing cops and robbers around the hay stack. She
referred to her horses as "hay burners", as her Dad would say. She said "They sure took care of us! If we got dumped off a horse,
they'd never leave us and just stood there waiting for us to get up, wipe away the tears, and then we would swing back on." She said
"those were the good ole days." One month after graduation, she married Richard (Lyle) Bomgardner. They lived most of their married life in Wheatland, Wyoming. Three children were born to this union Dennis Bomgardner, Denise Bomgardner, and Dean Bomgardner. Lyle and
Pat divorced a few years later. In later years, they became best of friends until Lyle passed away in 2021.

She then married Robert (R.D.) Clarke & their son Darrel James Clarke was born. They resided in Fort Benton. They later divorced. In 1980, she married LaVern (Vern) Wutschke & they bought property near Loma, MT on the Teton river where she has resided
since. She'd tell you "it was so good to finally be living in the country again." Together they raised angora goats (which cleaned up
the leafy spurge on the river bottom), had some pigs, horses, and even some chickens. Together they owned the Overland Bar in Fort
Benton until it sold in 1990. In 1997, along with the VFW and two other partners, they built the Club House Bar in Fort Benton, MT.
They sold that bar in 2003. Vern passed away in 2005.

She always enjoyed gardening, canning/freezing fruits and vegetables & became well known as the "best pickle packer in
Chouteau County!" She loved to be in her yard mowing, weeding flowerbeds, and mostly taking care of her beloved peonies & her
rhubarb. She loved to play darts in the winter months & go camping in the summer. She helped organize and run "Old Fart Darts" league
for nearly 30 years in Fort Benton. She loved doing hand embroidery for many years. She absolutely loved to have a HUGE
yard sale every year that would take days and days to prepare & then save what didn't sell for the next years sale! She always spoke
her thoughts without a filter. She was always early for an appointment in hopes she'd get in early & seemed to be the first in
line if there was a feed happening.
