Obituary

Paul D. Burney, 76, of Carter, Montana, passed away at Benefis Hospital surrounded by family on November 5, 2016. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., November 11, 2016 at the Fort Benton Methodist Church with Pastor Evelyn Kunkel officiating. The family has suggested memorial donations in Paul's name be made to the Carter Methodist Church, American Heart Association, of the charity of the donor's choice. Paul was born on April 20, 1940 at Alliance, Nebraska to Charles Cyril and Agnes Marie Burney. Paul was raised on the family farm and attended school and graduated high school from Hemingford, Nebraska. He met the love of his life in high school. Paul and Emily Carol Roan were married October 22, 1961. They lived in Hemingford, Nebraska till moving to Great Falls, Montana in 1963. He started his trucking business at that time, and a few years later started his custom cutting business which took him from Texas to Canada. He also farmed in Canada for five years.

Paul had a fun-loving spirit and was always ready for a new adventure. He loved trucking, custom cutting, and equipment buying and selling which he did until the time of his death.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Marie; brothers, Billy, Robert and Ray; and sister Bonnie.

Paul is survived by his wife Emily of 55 years; sons, Bryan (Shiela) Burney of Floweree, Montana and Brad Burney of Loma, Montana; daughter, Brenda (John) Reifenberger of Centennial, Colorado; grandchildren Bailey and Olivia Reifenberger of Centennial, Colorado; Jacoby, Wyatt and Chavelle Burney of Loma, Montana, grandson Joseph Garcia and his children, Chloe and Liam of Pampa, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer (Christian) Banks, their children, Susie, Tommy, Christine, Katie and Nolan of Sun Prairie, Montana; granddaughter, Catherine (Jim) Gallegos and their children Lexie, CJ, Isaac, Clayton and John of Amarillo, Texas. Paul is also survived by his brothers Don of Alliance, NE, Charles of Reno, Nevada, and Larry and Jimmy of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
