Butch was born September 8, 1951 in Fort Benton, MT. Son of Tony Drewiske and Helen (Flathers) Drewiske. He grew up in Fort Benton where he graduated in 1969. Throughout high school he enjoyed everything cars and loved working as 'Uncle Pete's' right hand man at the Husky Station.
After graduation, he married Paula Jean Frieling and the couple welcomed their son, Tony Ray, in 1973. To support his new family, Butch took a job at General Mills, where he continued to work for most of his life. After his retirement from General Mills, Butch picked up a job hauling fertilizer until an injury retired him permanently.
Butch spent his whole life in Fort Benton, where his family goes back for over 5 generations. He loved the little town and all that came with little town living. Always a friend to neighbors in his tight knit community, Butch enjoyed people and spending time with friends and family.
Butch was an avid sportsfan, from national to local, The Denver Broncos to the Chouteau House Hosers, his love for sports was lifelong. After his Dad made a baseball field for him in the field behind their house for all the local kids to play at, Butch's love for softball blossomed and he continued to play for most of his adult life. Not only did Butch love softball, he also played darts and bowled. His love for cars also continued and he ran pit crew for the 'Mean 13' at the demo derbies and was a regular at the stock car races.
A big fan of the great outdoors, Butch traveled across the area to enjoy a good campfire and beers with buds. Everyone has a story to tell about Butch from Tiber Lake to the infamous 'Cabin' and everywhere in between, as Butch was always game for a good booze cruise. Hunting, fishing, camping, football, fast cars and anything Montana were a few of his favorite things. But, one of Butch's biggest loves was for his grandchildren, whom he truly adored.
As Butch's mobility decreased, and he wasn't able to get out much, proof of his golden friendships increased, as he was still surrounded by his great friends and family members who stopped by to visit with him regularly. He was a true friend. Kind, loyal, protective. A gentle giant. Always wanting to help anyone he could. The life of the party. And the biggest heart in the room.
Butch, Butchie, Teddy Bear, Friend, Neighbor, Grandpa, Cousin~ You will be truly missed every day. You took a piece of us with you and our lives will never be the same without you.
