Skip was born the second oldest of 6 children on January 6, 1923 to Arthur and Lula (Cottrell) Henderson on the family farm in Geraldine. He was the only boy of 6 children. Skip attended school at the country school, Geraldine school, and graduated from Geraldine High School. He enlisted and served in the Merchant Marines. After his honorable dis-charge he went to work for Lawrence McDonald East of Loma. He married Ilene Bell and together they raised her son Jimmy Dawson and adopted a daughter Joyce Marie. He and Ilene were a wonderful couple and loved one another dearly. He farmed and ranched on his families place for many years retiring two years ago. He was a true "Cowboy" who loved to be on his horse. Skip was a member of the Sheriff's Posse, and enjoyed playing Polo and trail riding as a member of the Chouteau County Trail Blazers. He was proud to be a member of this group. Skip was a humorous soul who loved to kid and joke around with everyone. Skip had many one-liners that were just funny. He enjoyed telling stories. And a hard day's work wasn't hard if he had his horse to work with.
After his wife Ilene died, he and Jo Clark became good friends and care takers of one another. They had similar interests and the love of the land and horses in common. You never saw one without the other when riding was involved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Joyce Marie Knaff and three sisters.
Skip is survived by his companion and friend Jo Clark of Geraldine; two sisters; Joyce (Roy) Bryant of Great Falls; Marilyn (Harvey) Miller of South Dakota. Three grandchildren: Jeanette, David and Barry Knaff. His many friends and loyal cowboys.
