Robert Nagengast was born a twin to Martin and Beatrice Nagengast on August 31, 1955, and raised on the family farm in the Elim community east of Fort Benton. He died June 28, 2023, at Missouri River Medical Center after a two-year battle with cancer.

Robert attended the Elim School through eighth grade and graduated from Fort Benton High School along with the Class of 1973. He was an All-Star Little League pitcher and enjoyed playing recreational softball. He also loved to bowl.

After his father's death, Robert farmed with his mother for a few years until they sold the home place. He then moved to Fort Benton and opened Robert's Roost, serving pizza and chicken to thousands of customers over the years.

Robert is survived by his twin brother Raymond (Mary) of Buffalo, MN, his oldest brother William (Barbara) of Palmer, AK and his youngest brother Joseph of Kalispell. He is a much beloved uncle to Todd, Andrea, Amy and Ryan and great-uncle to Caden and Addison. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Edward, and niece Brea.

Services are scheduled for Friday, July 7, at 10:30 AM at the Benton Funeral Home with burial in Fort Benton Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will be held immediately following the burial in the basement of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

The family is grateful for the wonderful care provided for him by the staff at Missouri River Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the Ambulance Fund or the Chouteau County Food Bank.
