Timothy John
Kelly
March 6, 1955 – July 16, 2016
Timothy John Kelly, 61, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at his home in Fort Benton. His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fort Benton. The family has requested memorials be made in Tim's name to the Dedman Foundation, 2400 High Street, Fort Benton, MT 59442. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Benton Funeral Home.
Tim was born March 6, 1955 to John and Eleanor (Pimperton) Kelly. He was raised and attended school in Fort Benton, later attending college at MSU in Bozeman and earned a degree in Ag Business. He was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. After college he spent the next several years working in Billings for Standard Chemical. Tim moved back to Fort Benton in 1989 to help on the family ranch and to help care for his parents. He loved fencing and was always the source of good stories and a laugh at brandings. He also drove truck seasonally for Agri-Basics and was a realtor, specializing in agriculture properties.
Tim was a very outgoing person with the gift of gab; he talked to everyone. He often rode his bike around Fort Benton which gave him the opportunity to visit with even more people. He also enjoyed hunting and trapping. His latest endeavor was making bird houses out of hollowed-out trees.
Tim liked cats and was an avid reader and historian. He was especially knowledgeable of World War II and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Tim was the one to ask if you had a question about family or world history; he always had the answer. Tim was very proud of his daughter, Tori, and her many accomplishments. He also enjoyed being a part of all his nieces' and nephews' activities. He loved a good story and a good visit with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eleanor; and brother-in-law, Jim Coates.
Tim is survived by his daughter, Tori Hankins of Bozeman; sister Kay (Rick) Bailey and their children Nikki, Bryan, Leigh, and Molly; sister Eileen Coates of Canby, OR; brother Ed Kelly and his children Heidi, Lenise, Mandie, and Kyle; and brother Con Kelly; all of Fort Benton.
