Troy Dean Estell, 49, died Friday, October 13, 2017 at his home after a fall. Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Benton Funeral Home. Memorials in Troy's name may be made to the Dedman Foundation, 2400 High Street, Fort Benont, MT 59442. Troy was born June 5, 1968 in Great Falls, MT to Milo and Elizabeth (Brese) Estell. He was raised in Havre until he moved to Fort Benton when he was in the eighth grade. He completed his schooling in Fort Benton, graduating from high school in 1987. He excelled in Track & Field, setting many records in the state in the 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, and the 1600 meter relay. He was known by Coach and his friends as "Taco". Troy was a friendly, out-going and generous person. He loved kids and spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, camping, and playing sports: football, baseball, and track.
He attended the University of Montana in Missoula. He married Susan Sobkowiak in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The couple lived in Fort Benton, then moved to Wisconsin where Troy worked in Metal Fabrication. They later moved back to Montana and divorced.
Troy enjoyed Fort Benton. He loved the outdoor activities that Montana and the Fort Benton area offered. He especially enjoyed camping in Shonkin, MT. Every year he looked forward to the fishing derby in Fort Benton.
Troy was preceded in death by his father, Milo Estell in 2012; his paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Mildred Estell; his maternal grandparents, Jacob and Katherine Brese; his uncle, Lyle Estell; and his aunt, Garnet Woepple.
He is survived by his mother, Elizabeth (Betty) and Mark Daniel of Fort Benton; sisters, Genie Stone (Rodger Evans) of Fort Benton, Kari (Layne) West of Phoenix, AZ, Shannon (David) Hadford of Chester, MT, Tara (Tony) Bush of WA, Janelle (Rick) Regennipler, of CA; his brother, Mark (Amy) Daniel Jr. of Havre, MT; his uncle, Merle Estell of Great Falls; his aunts, Marge Stoner of Fort Benton and Penny Walls of Boise, ID; Step-daughters, Adela Burmeister of San Diego, CA and Melissa Fredrickson of Fort Benton, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
