Obituary

Virginia Murray, daughter of Charles Rea and Edith Murray, was born January 15, 1921 on the family farm 15 miles west of Big Sandy. She was her dad's farm hand, helping with the milking and driving tractor to pull the combine during harvest.

Virginia completed her elementary education at the Ray school. Her sister Helen was her 7th and 8th grade teacher. She attended Fort Benton High school while staying in a dorm for 50 cents a day which in the 30's was hard to come by! She graduated in 1939.

She married her high school sweetheart, Harvey Fox on June 30, 1944. They both were employed at the County Courthouse serving the public for 23 years.

In 1946 they purchased Jesse Palmers homestead and had it moved across the wide Missouri to its present site at 1014 Franklin.

Virginia raised a large garden and much of the produce was canned or frozen. She was assistant den mother for cub scouts, a member and past president of the BBB club, a long-standing member of the First Christian Church, and the Fort Benton's Women's Club.

For many years she took care of the Agricultural Booth at the fair, prepared and delivered "Friendly Round Up" packets for newcomers, made pies for the annual pie sales and twice won first place for her age group! She belonged to the Golden Age Center, serving as hostess, cashier, substitute secretary and served on the board for the County Council on Aging. She was known to help with Cancer, Diabetes and Red Cross drives.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Harvey and son James. She is survived by her son, Charles (Debbie) Fox; granddaughter, Michelle (Greg) Salisbury; grandson, Jeremy Fox (Sarah); and five great grandchildren.

She resided at the Sunrise Bluffs the last several years and had such special care given to her by Brenda Price and Neldine Nash. She went to be with her Lord there on Monday, April 30th.
