Obituary

Wesley (Wes) Allen Wellman, 66, passed away suddenly at his home in Fort Benton on April 28, 2021.  Wes was born to Paul & Miriam (Gessaman) Wellman on January 12, 1955 in Great Falls, MT.  He was the 2nd child of Paul & Miriam's.

Wesley was raised in Great Falls for a short time then the family moved out to the Gessaman family farm in 1962.  He then attended school at the country school, Chester schools, & eventually graduated from Fort Benton High School in 1973.  After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy & served from 1979 to 1985.

After living for a short time in San Diego, Ca, Wes moved back to Fort Benton, MT.  He then married Debbie Wellman & became an instant dad to Debbie's 3 children.  Together Wes & Debbie had 1 son.

Wes worked in multiple different jobs throughout the years, including years running a rural mail route, a teller at a local bank, H-O Parts, Lehman's Hardware, Benton Funeral Home & most recently at the Loma Post Office.

Time spent volunteering as an EMT with the Memorial Ambulance of Fort Benton was a huge part of Wes's life till he retired from service in 2017.

Wes enjoyed tinkering around the house fixing things & working on projects.  In the past few years, he took up cake making & decorating.  Then in the past year or so, he bought a log splitter & enjoyed splitting wood for local friends & neighbors.  Wes also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debbie; his parents; & Debbie's parents.

Wesley is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Stephen) White & Stacie Wellman of Frenchtown; sons, Erich (Kaela) Wellman of Laurel & Cody Wellman of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Skye, Kodi, Grizzly, & Everest White, Elliot Wellman, & Bryson Wellman; brothers, Dennis (Karen) Wellman & Alan (Tiffany) Wellman; & sister, Melinda (Rich) Sater; and numerous nieces & nephews.
